Hello, and Merry Xmas, or a pleasant and religiously neutral Saturday Eve. Religion…pah! Happy Corporate Donations to all! Excuse me, I’ve had a few ciders.
I’ll keep this brief. This isn’t so much a blog post, but more of a polite heads-up, a swindle, a desperate shoulder shaking to any curious sorts who enjoy author interviews. In regards to my writing, interviews and other such media are quite sparse on the ground due to my former unwillingness to engage in such aspects of the author lifestyle, a fault which I aim to rectify, (probably), in 2022. In fact, I can only count two reviews off the top of my head. My last post on here included Fan Base Press’ interview of me, and so I thought it only fair to include Kirkus Reviews’ interview, which arose due to their voting Hourglass as one of the Best 100 Indie Novels of 2021. I’m as shocked as you. HA! But no, self-deprecation and self-defecation aside, I am super proud of the book, and the soon-to-be-released sequel.
“James joins a rich history of fantasy creators who have built a wide cast of characters. He says some of his biggest influences are TV writers and filmmakers like Joss Whedon and James Gunn as well as comic-book creators like Mike Mignola and Jack Kirby.”
So if you enjoy similar big, bold cinematic antics coming at you in prose form (with some additional violence, gore, covert organisations, supernatural beasts, harsh language, existential horror, but most of all…friendship), you can grab a Kindle copy on all good Amazon sites for a pittance.
The interview was carried out by freelance writer Chelsea Ennen, and I think she did a bang-up job. Chelsea is based in Brooklyn, NYC, and our interview was initially supposed to take place over the phone, but sadly there was some area code complexities which prevented this; but in hindsight, it might have been for the best. My rough and grumbling scouse accent could have potentially produced a number of misheard or nonsensical answers.
Shit…that actually could have been quite interesting.
Okay, so…I’ve done my shill spiel, feel quite ashamed of myself, and would like to continue drinking until my view of the Xmas tree turns all fuzzy and I fall into an 80’s rock/metal rabbit hole.
I hope you enjoy the review. A Happy Corporate Holiday to all. And to all, a good night.
